Down in the valley, the valley so low...

It's undeniable -- part of the reason I love living here is because some of the finest grape-growing land in the world is an hour or so away by car, always there, always thriving, always ready to receive your reach-out-and-touch-it:

And if you promise not to hurt it, you can touch the merlot:

Yeah, the East Bay rocks. I'm 20 minutes by train from downtown San Francisco and I'm an hourish by car away from this, something that I find not necessarily unlike what you might call Heaven on Earth. Good times.

Best of luck to you, RC. I recognize a lot of this area's shortcomings (for example: it's expensive), but after 18 months here, I can confidently say that the opportunity cost is worth it, to the extent that I now can't really imagine wanting to move somewhere else. It's crazy.

This *is* the droid I was looking for!

I figured that the "chuck" commenting on my blog was you, I just needed confirmation. After coming here and reading a mini rant on linguistics, I knew I was correct. This is in addition to the big picture of you :b
